woke up yesterday and found all but one of my fish floating - one of my heaters malfunctioned and the water was ... I don't know, it took 3 hours to come down to 86... with a water change. One tough killi fish made it, but I lost a nice catfish, a couple of gourami, other killifish, several hatchet fish, a couple of kuhli loaches, otos, and some barbs. I haven't had a death in over a year and all was going so well.
Now, I have a haggard-looking fish, cloudy, filmy water, and a bloom of algea, as well as some kind of mold. Did another water change today - I found the defective heater - I guess once I have the heating situation stable, clean off the algae and have enough water changes to get rid of the filmy surface, I will begin re-stocking.
RIP poor little fishies. I'm so sorry.
