I just got my first 40 gallon tank that I'm getting started with cycling and then plan to slowly add Harlekin Rasboras. After that, I would like to put Bamboo shrimp in it. From what I read it's important to have a well cycled tank with fish living in it for 6 months before it's advisable to add the shrimp, so they have enough plankton to feed on (Bamboo shrimp - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). Has anyone here experience with these lovely creatures? Are they good for beginners? Any way to speed up the process and still have healthy and happy shrimp?
