pygmycory1

Description: Compatibility: Peaceful Schooling Community Fish
Maximum Size: 1 inch
Minimum Tank Size: 5G
Temperature: 72-82F
Diet: Sinking bottom feeder pellets & wafers, same as other corys.
Level of care: easy
General Notes: The pygmy cory is like most other corydora species, but its size is scaled down. Peaceful and a good communtiy fish if kept with other fish of somewhat similar size to avoid them being eaten. Pgymies tend to be a more active swimmer than other corydoras and will spend more time swimming at midlevel in a tank. Should be kept in groups of at least 6 although this species feels most secure in larger groups of 10 or more individuals. One concern with this fish is that it often does not fare well in large aquariums. They seem to be much more active when in a tank that is more scaled to their small stature, which makes them ideal for smaller tanks. Considered one of the easier species of catfish to spawn and raise.

Pros: stays small, active in groups
Cons: needs large group to be seen

They are great fish, if kept in a large enough group. When I had 6 they were quite visible. After 1 died, I never see them. They\'ve not been in the LSF since. They\'re great for a small tank.

Pros: Very gentle fish
Cons: A little shy, and need a large group

Great fish for smaller tanks. Mine became much happier when I made them a small cave. The are well suited to fry tanks or shrimp breeding setups, as they don\'t bother smaller fish or baby shrimp.

Pros: Active little things, fun to watch
Cons: May not be the most hardy...

I have three in my planted 10g right now, and they are all over the place. Not shy at all. I have lost 2. But the remaining three are having a blast. They swim to the surface sometimes, and rest on leaves. Overall, a *cute* bottom feeder, and certainly suited for the smaller aquarium.
