General Notes: An easy dwarf cichlid to breed. The male has a blue body with a yellow chin. An aquarium bred variety named Apistogramma opal Borelli is also available and is characterised by a red and blue speckled face. Like most apistogrammas, the female is yellow coloured. When breeding, the aquarist must take precaution as most cichlids will become aggressive prior and after breeding.
