Description:
|
Compatibility: Very peaceful fish, can get picked on by more assertive/territorial fish.
Maximum Size: 5-8 inches depending on species
Minimum Tank Size: 20G
Temperature: 70-80F
Diet: Algae, supplement with veggie/fiberous foods such as driftwood, cucumber, zucchini etc
Level of care: moderate, need to make sure there is enough food and hiding places.
General Notes: There are many different specific species of Ancistrus...all sold under the common name of "bristlenose pleco" or "bushynose pleco". They are generally very similar, usually the main difference between them is their coloring. Unlike the common pleco, bristlenoses stay motivated to eat algae and are very hard workers in your tank (as long as they're happy).
