firefish

Description: Compatibility: Reef Safe
Maximum Size: 3-4 inches
Minimum Tank Size: 10 galons
Temperature: 78-82F
Diet: Accepts all types of food
Level of care: Easy
General Notes: Firefish are peaceful fish that usually inhabit the middle level of the tank unlike other gobies. They have a specialized swim bladders that allows them to float in one place without a lot of effort. Firefish as a group tend to be very shy and should be supplied with many dark cave that they can duck into when they feel threatened. Firefish, like most other gobies should also be kept in pairs. Also the should be kept in covered tanks as they are known to be jumpers.

Pros: Cute little fish, nice colors, small & peaceful (reef safe)
Cons: Timid

Very timid when in a tank alone, but they hide a lot less if there are other fish around. Firefish are a type of dartfish-when you startle them, they disappear into rocks faster than you can even see them turn around. Mine isn't a picky eater-it'll eat just about everything. He survived being moved for a 4.5 hour car trip, waiting for the tank to get set back up, and our first time mixing up saltwater.

These are shy fish, but when they do come out of hiding they are spectacular looking!
