Rotala sp. "Vietnam" is a relative newcomer in the vast Rotala family of plants, and is typically obtained through other hobbyists. Hailing from Vietnam, this plant is similar to Rotala wallichii. With moderate light, this plant will remain mostly green, and under intense light, this plant will develop its characteristic red stems and golden leaves. A very fast grower, it will grow straight up, and will lay across the water's surface when allowed to do so. Propogation is best done by allowing the plant to reach the water's surface, as it will develop sideshoots much more rapidly. Pruning is best done by removing the plant from the substrate, clipping off the lower part of the stems, and replanting. Sufficient macronutrients will promote rapid growth and proper stem/leaf size. Adequate micronutrients will promote good coloration and overall health of the plant.
