Description: Size: 4.5"
Temperature: 72-84F

This Gourmi originates from Thiland and Borneo. It is not impossible to breed them but hard. Males will chase all mid-strata fish but nothing on the bottom or skimming the surface. If two males are together the one later released will be fin-nipped to death. If two males are introduced at the same time the weaker one shall meet it's fate. Occasionally one will peck at an alge chip but greedily prefer flake food and blood worms. They will survive no most foods unless its designed for guppies. Provide bunches of tall plants, plastic or real.

Pros: Nice looking fish
Cons: Can be territorial

I just picked one of these up for my 29 gallon tank. The tank is populated with some gold barbs and cories, along with zebra danios. For the most part the fish are able to hold their own. The Gold gourami is the only "big" fish I have planned and don't forsee any problems. The one I got is just a baby (about an inch long). So far seems hardy enough to have withstood the stress of being put in a new tank.

Pros: Interesting to watch
Cons: Greedy during feeding time

My Gold Gourami is very peaceful and gets along fine with my community fish. The only real disadvantage to this type of Gourami, is that, depending on the size of your aquarium, your limited to only one per tank.
