Although Scats aren't true freshwater fish, they can be kept in freshwater when very young and moved to brackish/salt water as they mature. They will eat most anything live, frozen, or freeze dried. They produce a significant amount of waste and should be kept in a tank with excellent filtration. There is no reported success of breeding scats in captivity. There are several different color variations including Green Spotted, Silver banded and Red.
