Compatibility: Brackish fish, do best in species tank.

Temperature: 75-86F
Diet: Picky eater, usually will only accept live foods: daphnia, brine shrimp, mosquito larvae etc Some can be coaxed to accept frozen or flake foods.
Level of care: moderate
General Notes: This fish is best suited for a species tank, or can be kept with mid-water or surface-dwelling fish that will not compete with it for the substrate. This is a brackish fish, it cannot be kept in freshwater.

I have 4 of these in my brackish 30 gallon, and I love them  They seem do be doing quite well considering I don't use live foods on them, so they must be eating the flake food. They stay towards the bottom of the tank, or they just "hang out" on the walls. At night they like to race up and down the sides of the walls, making them an entertaining fish to watch.

Pros:

Stay small, active, interesting personalities.

Cons:

Sometimes aggressive, need brackish conditions and live/frozen foods.
|
|
BBGs do best with a specific gravity of 1.005-1.008, but 1.005 is best.
Do not try to put in high-end brackish tanks (1.010 and up).
Can be aggressive towards other fish; be prepared to separate from tankmates.
Live and frozen foods only as these are predatory fish and flake diet is not sufficient nutrition. Feed live black worms, frozen blood worms, and only occasionally brine shrimp as a treat (brine shrimp has no real nutritional value). Any frozen cubed foods can be experimented with.
