Compatibility: Active Schooling Community Fish
Maximum Size: 4-6 inches
Minimum Tank Size: 29G
Temperature: 75-82F
Diet: Will accept flake food, but like other fish they will be much healthier and happier with a varied diet. They love to eat snails and shrimp pellets. Will also enjoy blackworms, bloodworms and brine shrimp, or fresh veggies (like peas, cucumber or zucchini).
Level of care: moderate (need a good size tank and need to keep water extra clean)
General Notes: Polka-Dot Botias need a well-oxygenated tank. This fish originated in fast moving riverbed systems. Although a riverbed system is not required; they do need a decent current. They also require many hiding places. These fish feels more comfortable when they know that they can disappear in an instant. They also enjoy driftwood. You will sometimes see them doing the 'battle dance'. This not harmful and fish seldom die. This behavior could go on anywhere from a few seconds to over 15 minutes. This is an active species that likes to be in a group of its own kind (groups of 3 minimum), but will tolerate most other tankmates. Stay away from Tiger Loaches. They will hunt down anything smaller than ¾ of an inch.

They Jump and They Like to Play in the Filter

These fish are awesome!!!! I Love them! They only problem with them is that they jump (pretty high) and they like to play in the filter. This can result in death. But other than that they are wonderful fish!!!

Ive got 3 in my tank. Subdued coloration but still pretty. Playful and really cute. manage my cone snails rather poorly in my black sand and tan pea gravel mixture. guess i feed everybody too good.
