Description:
|
Lighting: Moderate to High
Placement: Bottom
Difficulty: Difficult
Water Flow: Medium to Strong
Temperament: Peaceful
Endemic Area: Indo-Pacific
Other Info: A species similar to the Clove or Glove Coral (Clavularia sp.). This is another colonial polyp coral with eight-leaved tentacles, associated with all members of the Xeniidae family. It is an easily damaged species due to its delicate polyps and tentacles, especially by fish, crabs, snails, and other corals. If provided an ideal environment with supplements of iodine and trace elements, it can create a creeping mat that will grow over adjacent rock. Hosted zooxanthellae provide some of the nutrition requirements of this species. Additional feedings of microplankton or filter-feeding foods are required.
