Other Info: Part of the Zoanthidae family, some of these polyps exactly resembling Zoanthus sp. Some of these species can be extremely toxic. Most zoanthids can produce a mild toxin, which is capable of tank contamination or damaging other species. However, some of this species, particularly Palythoa toxica and tuberculosa are extremely toxic species. Its toxin is referred to as palytoxin and has severe vasoconstrictor action. A toxic dose in a human would be about 4 micrograms and it is one of the most toxic organic substances known. Its care is basically the same as the others in this family. However, it is noteworthy that this species most likely won’t be encountered in the hobby.
