Description:
|
Lighting Level: Moderate
Placement: Any level, usually lower
Difficulty Level: Easy, good for beginners
Water Flow: Low to Medium
Temperament: Semi-Aggressive
Endemic Region: Indo-Pacific
Other Info: Rhodactis are very hardy soft corals, often ideal for beginners. Common varieties include Bullseye, White Tip, Lavender, and Hairy, They easily multiply and spread very rapidly. If light intensity is high, placement should be lower in the tank. If they are placed in intense lighting, they may often demonstrate signs of bleaching and fail to fully open. Mushrooms need ample space between themselves and other corals, as when they open fully they will block light to nearby mushrooms or corals. Nutrition is provided by photosynthesis of the hosted symbiotic algae zooxanthellae within. They also filter particulate matter and may be fed plankton or brine. Some species possess long tentacles which are aggressive toward other types of coral.
