Description: Lighting Level: Low to high depending on placement
Placement: In bright lights place towards bottom of tank
Difficulty Level: Easy/Beginner
Water Flow: Low to high
Temperament: Quick spreading, aggressive coral which should not be placed around sensitive corals (e.g. SPS)
Endemic Region: Global
Other Info: Zoanthids are one of the most popular soft corals available on the market. This is due to their relative hardiness and the seemingly limitless color combinations available. Furthermore, because they spread so prolifically clumps can easily be traded with fellow marine aquarists to diversify both aquariums.

Pros: beautiful, hardy, fast spreading
Cons: dangerous to SPS

Zoanthids are great starter corals for the new reefer but they also provide enough interest for anyone to keep. Zoanthids are the staple of many soft coral reef aquariums.

It is tough to set a price for zoanthids because it can vary widely due to coloration and size of the colony. Expect to pay between $15 and $30 for a rock roughly the size of a silver dollar.

Pros: colorful, hardy
Cons: high priced depending on color

These are very nice corals that can be kept in almost any tank. Reproduction depends on alot of things for this coral, lighting, water quality, water flow.

Beware of predators that may hitch a ride on these corals, sundile snails, zoanthid eating spiders(not joking, there is such a thing), even nudibranches.

Most lfs will get in what I call "poo zoos". These are often a palythoa coral. LFSs will often over price zoanthids with fancy names such as "fire and ice zoas" or "purple people eaters" even a simple blue polyp could cost ten dollars and up, and the frags are usualy 5-10 polyps.
