Description: Compatibility: Peaceful Schooling Community Fish
Maximum Size: 2 inches
Minimum Tank Size: 10G
Temperature: 74-82F
Diet: Omniverous
Level of care: Easy
General Notes: A very undemanding species. A dark gravel bottom and subdued light with enhance the colors of this fish. They seem to school best when in a larger tank with plenty of room to swim, with other types of fish in the tank. They are sometimes also called Pristella tetras.

Pros: a very hardy tetra
Cons: none

This is by far the nicest tetra I have had, and I have had about 4 different types of tetras. These are strikingly colorful with the black and yellow int heir fins. Their dorsal fins stand straight up at attention, and these guys made it through a 3,000 mile road trip frm PA to OR. If I ever get teh big 250 gallon tank I will get a school of about 20 of these guys as the main schooling fish in the tank.

Pros: hardy, fun to watch, great starter fish
Cons: none

These were recommended when I wanted something unique and hardy to cycle my first tank with, so I bought a school of 13 jeuveniles. They handled the cycling process well, and are now favorites in our home. They \'race the current\' from the filter return, swimming into the current, floating down, and then circling back around to do it all again. My kids love watching them. When they are not stressed, their scales become faintly irridescent, looking slightly green, blue or yellow instead of straight silver, and the yellow & orange on their fins can be quite vivid. They are also lots of fun to watch at meal time!

I \"lucked out\" with this fish.

Pros: incredibly hardy and resistant
Cons: none

I've had a trio of pristellas for two, maybe three years now and they have been in perfect condition since. I've had the occasional infection spread through my tanks (ich, bacterial, etc), but I have yet to see even a scathed fin on one of these guys. Also, very pretty when they get acclimated (they usually don't look too impressive at the store).

Pros: very easy to care for
Cons: none, but should be kept in schools

A very awesome, hardy, and easy going fish. They are excellent for beginners, and live for a fair amount of time. I've had a trio of these for about two years (just like angel51431) and they're still alive and doing well!!

Pros: Easy to care for, active, nice coloration, hardy
Cons: None

I keep a school of 6 gold (albino) pristella tetras, and they're a delight. They school together nicely most of the time and are perfect community tank citizens. I particularly recommend the gold variety, as the bright yellow coloration is quite nice in the tank.
