General Notes: A fairly hardy, and pretty, yet aggressive and territorial fish; not meant for the community tank. They should only be housed with other similar sized cichlids that are aggressive as well, however several bimaculatus should be kept in each tank as they are sociable fish. Specimen tanks are an option for this fish. They are usually readily available in the aquarium trade. Breeding these fish can be difficult. Originates from Liberia and Guinea.

Pros:	Fun,pretty,not afraid of tank owner
Cons:	hard to breed

My jewels are fine in my community tank and they do fine.To tell you the truth my black skirt tetras are more nippy than my cichlids.
