capelopezlyretail

Description: Compatibility: Peaceful Community fish
Maximum Size: 2 Inches
Minimum Tank Size: 5G
Temperature: 70-75F
Diet: This fish is omnivorous and will accept flake, good to mix their diet up with small live and frozen foods.
Level of care: Easy
General Notes: This is a striking killifish, sometimes known as the Lyretail Panchax. They are frequently available and you will see them with many different color varieties. Great killifish for the novice and can be kept in a 5 gallon aquarium as a pair. They prefer tanks that have the bogwood/blackwater effect because that simulates their conditions in the wild. Be sure to have a tight fitting lid, as they can be jumpers.

Pros: Smart, bright and beautiful fish.
Cons: None.

A truly beautiful little fish. The markings are incredible. Males and females have little red dots all over. The males are a deep orange outlined with deep red and white tips on their finnage. The female are a soft yellow with red dots. They have small throats so require small foods. This does not stop them from taking whole blood worms and carrying them around for awhile until they consume them. The first few times they did this i thought they were stuck in their throats so i pulled them out with hemostats. It was not needed as they just like to parade around with them for awhile. They love blood worms and BBS but will eat flake food as well. I have seen no aggression towards other males or other fish in the tank. You will fall in love with this fish and want a tank full of them.
