Description:
|
Compatibility: Very peaceful and will not harm the smallest of fish.
Maximum Size: 8-10 inches
Minimum Tank Size: 20G
Temperature: 70-76F
Diet: These loaches are not fussy eaters and will readily take flake food, sinking shrimp pellets, bloodworms and may eat snails.
Level of care: easy
General Notes: These fish get the name 'weather loach' from being very sensitive to barometric pressure changes. Can be hand tamed. They will appreciate a sand bottom as they like to burrow. Adaptable to a variety of ph levels and temperatures. And they are very hardy. They do well alone or with their other dojos. Be careful to make sure that the tank has a tight fitting lid, they can be great escape artists. Prefers cooler temperatures, and can be kept in a coldwater tank.

Hardy, active, peaceful
|
|
Cons:

Tendency to jump out of tank
|

These are some of the most active fish you can get! One does fine on its own, but if you get two, they will play with eachother endlessly. Mine like to rest on the plants, or in strange positions. Be warned, they will jump out of an uncovered tank, or through any space they can that\'s open, so make sure your lid is well secured with no holes. A dojo can survive for a little while out of the tank, as it will excrete a thick slime coat. They also like to dig, and can uproot newly planted plants very easily. While some people report that they eat snails, I\'ve never known mine to. They love shrimp pellets and bloodworms, but will eat flakes, too.

playful, cute whiskers, eat virtually anything, pretty hardy(can withstand changes in pH, temp etc)

Cons:

scaredy cats, only fun with two or more, escape artists

These fishies are about as cute as they get, and love to play with each other. I have two and all they ever do is \"cuddle\" and flip around the tank. They are giant pigs too and will eat virtually anything that sinks. Unfortionatly, they are rather skitterish fish that seem to have rather good vision: mine can see me coming from across the room, and they hide in their feeding corner. They also need lots of hiding places and smooth gravel on the bottom, as they have no scales on their bellies. I love my Dojos, and I think nearly everyone wanting silly, hardy fish would too!

These are great community fish. I didn\'t know they liked groups when I first got mine, so he was alone in my 10g for a while. Then I put him in with my zipper loaches. He hangs out with them sometimes, but mostly he is independant. I think thats mostly due to him being the most active fish in the tank! I was also suprised to find him eating some of the pleco\'s algea wafer. Usually everyone gives the pleco lots of personal space, (he\'s nearly 7\") but the dojo was swimming all over and under the pleco eating the wafer right along with him!

Dojo Loaches are an awesome fish! You shouldn't just get one, the first time I only got one, and it was very inactive, hid most of the time. Second time, I bought two, they are very active, never hide. They playfully chase each around the tank nose to tail or side by side, up and down. Seem to like uneven gravel with slopes and hills. Also like sitting on decorations or even balancing on top of plants.
Very peaceful with all fish. Eats all the flakes that sink to the bottom of tank, occasionally will even eat a few off the surface. But its favorite food by far is frozen bloodworms, you can actually see their excitement when you drop in some of those!
I highly recomended this fish!

This an excellent fish! Great for community tanks. Its very peaceful, and fun to watch. I would say this is a fish not for beginners. My fish made friends with my cories and swordtails. He loves to eat shrimp pellets. He'll gobble them right up!There very hardy fish.
Highly Recommend this fish for semi-experienced fish carers.

These guys are cool, they are very friendly and seem to enjoy all types of food. They lounge around in wierd spots in the tank. I have only one, which dissapoints me as the LFS only had one left. I would like another but this guy is close to 5 inches long and just the coolest to watch. He never burys in the gravel but always likes to hide between or along side things in the tank.

I have a single Dojo, I must say he's the most fun to watch of all my fish. He's not aggressive in the least, he actually lets the other fish lay all over him (It's really quite cute).
