The Rainbow shark is perhaps my favorite freshwater fish. I have kept one since it was barely an inch and a half long. In a span of 2 years he has reached 7 inches in length!! Many sites tell you this shark is hardy and can grow to six inches in length. They are correct. However, this shark can be a bit aggressive if not provided with a cave. This shark NEEDS a cave. Without a cave it will not have any territory and it will chase and stress your other fish. I have kept mine with mollies, guppies, swordtails, plecos, cory cats, and zebra danios. It has done fine with all of them. The bare minimum should be 30 gallons for this shark. They will accept most (if not, all) sinking foods. The only downside to this shark is that it will spend a majority of its time in caves once it reaches about 4 inches.
