Are gouramis able to nest inside logs e.t.c?

I have had my male and female Gourami inside a large fish tanks for months. They've been kept by Corys, Feathered Catfishes, Angel Fish and Glass suckers (sorry I have forgotten their name), but I have just recently noticed the male Gourami has been guarding a hollow log (omly one entrance), although no aggressive behavior. Does this mean the male has spawned with the female and I am now awaiting for fry to hatch? Or is this just something they are known to do?

Thank you ☺
