If you want to keep soft corals, you need 10x the turnover for your tank which means 600x or more for your 60 gallon. You would want to put powerheads at different end of the tank and make sure there are no dead space. You will notice the dead space once you see all that red algae clinging to the sand and side of the tank. Some people have a wavemaker to have random ocean currents with the powerhead but I can't afford one now.
If you are going to keep stony or hard corals, you need a circulation of around 20x the turnover which is 1200 gallon/hr. Now that's a lot of water turnover but that's what they really need. |
