Rate our Convict Cichlid Tank

Take a look at our tank. We do not have any plastic plants yet, just rocks, more slate rock, and some Mexican pots my wife put out to pasture (we boiled them first).

Its nice, I like the setup of the pots and slate. Nice tank.

how many convicts do you have in that tank?

4 at the time. The tank now looks different and, seeing as the Convicts were trying to murder each other (one was beat up so bad she had half her scales missing), we traded them in.

Now there are live plants, everything has been re-arrainged (ever try to catch Cichlids my God, we had to take everything out).

I'm sorry to have lost my babies... but I could not stand to watch them try to kill each other. Guppies turning belly up I can stand... me and my young daughters were just feeling terrible watching the Convicts beat each other up, even with all the cover, once two made a pair, that was it for the other two.

I loved how SMART the Convicts were, and active, and I may have them one day again, but if I do, I'll never name them and get attached to them. You can't have those kinds of Cichlids and care emotionally for the fish, it will beat YOU up. :P

38 gallons. Would you believe the LFS told me I could buy 6, not just 4? And they never once said these fish were aggressive enough to kill. I specifically asked if they were like Oscars, and they said "no way."
