| Ooooo! Get some ghost shrimp or another female betta or some cories or an oto. Sorry, I like fish...a couple ghost shrimp would be nice. If you get males and females you might get some eggs. Cories are cool and fun to watch. Another betta might be fun too especially if she has opposite colors of the one you've got in there.

| just an update, photo taken 2/20/08:
the red ludwigia has shed quite a few leaves, especially close to the base. there are 6 stems and i have them bunch together just the way they were at the pet store, should i give them some breathing room?
the other stem plants seem to be doing just fine, the milfoil is so long it's bending down, i've been busy and haven't gotten to any pruning yet.
still looking for a nice centerpiece rock/driftwood; can't just settle for "anything" |

| Nice. I like the Ludwigia.
My experience with Eclipse/Marineland tanks is that the lighting is very good, but it is all focussed up front... which makes it a little backwards for a planted tank (not to say I didn't try ).
Your stem plants will hopefully bend forward to get at the light.

| yeah for the most part the stem plants do bend forward to get the light. i'm really glad they're growing quite well. i heard they need very bright light so i was nervous trying them but glad i did. they're growing with no problem at all really.
- today i added two slate type rocks to create a "cave"
- stuck in some java moss, i've yet to decide exactly how i want to position it.
- added a java fern to the front left.
i've read that a java fern likes to have it's roots out of the water but at the lfs they had it in the gravel. which route should i go with? i could buy a small rock and tie some fishing string to it if i have to. it's next to a root tab in the gravel though, about 1 inch away. |

| The tank is looking good.
The rhizome of the java fern will eventually rot if you keep it in the gravel. So, you should probably find some driftwood or a rock to anchor it to.
