TIGER9 - link below, perhaps you don't wander too far into that site?

http://www.piranha-fury.com/forum/pf...howtopic=27819

...and perhaps you'd like to tell us what you said about what influenced 99.9% of piranha-fury members to get their first piranha?

take notice that my name is not present anywhere in that thread. even if i would have seen it wouldnt have participated. and im one of the few .1% that bought these fish to understand them, not to perpetuate the general belief that these are mindless killers. why are u trying to convince ME that i own piranha for the same reasons everyone else does?

I'm not trying to convince of you of that at all, in fact it's good to hear that you don't. I wanted to understand what the attraction of piranha was, whether there is a behavioural complexity beneath the obvious superficial features.

Whilst I was teasing, I wasn't prepared for your reaction and I really don't have the closed mind that you accuse me of.

I remain all eyes and ears, I'd love you to explain why you have become obsessed with piranha, I am sure it would be educational and informative to many others too. This is sincere, so please don't be defensive.

Personally I quite like the look of P's, the reason I wouldn't keep one (or more) is simply because they don't "do much" in a tank situation.

As for the apparent immaturity of many P keepers, well, it's not for me to tell someone to be either mature or immature - but I can't help feeling sorry for the fish. And before this flares up again - I in no way suggest that everyone who keeps these fish still has a lot of growing up to do - but I can't help noticing a concentration of hormonal aggression amongst P keepers. Lets face it - even that site is called P fury. Why FURY? - is that the fishes main attraction - a propensity towards mindless violence ? heck - most P's are pretty docile, yet the FURY part is pushed to the front.

Not surprising P keepers don't always get the benefit of the doubt.

doesn't sound like we're far apart in that view Purple, I'm hoping that maybe TIGER9 or Piranhaman! will be able to enlighten us. Perhaps we'll all be converted, road to Damascus style, and you'll find a use for that JD.....as a feeder? ;-)

Hmmm now that is a fish (Piranha) I would really like a tank full of.... Purple if I move house I want a big BIG tank and a lot of Piranha... then you be very carefull of what your saying or you might become a feeder human lol

No really though I love them, a friend of mine used to have 2 in a tank in his house in Acton London some years back... and because so many people where frightend of them at the time he kept his money in a water proof jar at the bottom of the tank... I knew as well as he did that its easy to get that money out of the tank without using a net/line n hook etc... just put ya arm in they dont bite (unless your bleeding or a threat to them)... so I think they are rather cute... yes I am a little insane but I like them ok *grin*

Hiya Taffy nice to see ya... to see ya nice x
