Hello all. I am tired of running to my local aquarium store to have my water tested. Any recommendations for a good test kit? Are they all the same or is one better than the other? Thanks for any info or thoughts!
Yep. Another vote for the API master test kit. They're about $30 at pet places, but will last years. You can get them by mail order cheaper if you have the time.
this thread got me thinking about my reef tank and i'm having issues keeping things alive in there. so i ended up buying another API for my reef tank. haha.
here's the link if anyone is interested.

man! so should've gotten that test kit earlier. would've solved alot of issues. my nitrates are off the chart! no wonder i couldn't keep much alive. geez.
lesson for everyone from my mistakes...get a test kit! even though some corals and fishes seem to be okay....my tank would've been happier with better water quality and i'd save tons of money if i fix this before buying corals and fishes for the tank.
