If you buy (or bought) live plants chances are you probably have a few snails. That happened to me, (I didn't even want snails!) and now I have a small snail problem... but I must admit that they are doing a pretty good job on the algae...

I've had too many snail outbreaks. Don't care for any in my tank (40gal). Also for the plant lovers make sure when you buy them wash them before you put them in your tank. Chances are...there are snails on them.

Apple, Ramshorn, Mystery (sort of), Trapdoor, etc. Snails are scavengers so if they're forced to they will eat plants. I've heard mixed reviews as to MTS eat plants or not eating plants. They never really did (that I could tell) in my tanks. Assassin snails probably won't eat plants. Not sure about nerite snails either but I've heard they don't.

Guess I've been lucky. Have never had a snail eat a plant (but can't get apple/mystery snails where I live due to legalities).

u can get the apple snails on the internet still. they were claimed a invasive species but i still can buy them.

That happened to me, (I didn't even want snails!) and now I have a small snail problem... but I must admit that they are doing a pretty good job on the algae... __________________ "The more the merrier!" 20 gallon 1 male marigold wag swordtail (named Freckles for the freckles he has). 4 platys; 2 red wags, 1 sunset, 1 variatus (all females I believe). 2 albino corys- RIP, little guy 4 harlequin rasboras 6 neons. plus 5 or 6 live plants (not sure what they are) oh and a snail infestation will be buying some sort of algae-eater... ideas anyone?
