|  welcome to the tank. Where are you planning on getting the gar, if your looking for a north american native GAR check out the link in my sig it has a forum specializing in North American natives, I am sur you can find some ther with the info you want.

| Are you talking about the Asian Gar that is seen in alot of pet/fish stores??

| Depends on your definition of small. Small gar in this part of the country are 18''-24" long. Big ones get over 5 feet long. You'd need a pond, not an aquarium unless you're talking about a baby gar. Even that would quickly outgrow a tank. They're a blast to catch, but I don't think I'd want to try and care for one. Lotsa teeth!

| i dont see any eason not to go for it..from what i found though you will have to move up to a larger tank. You will not need a tank heater for northern amrican natives.
