Default Bamboo shrimp

Since they are the only shrimp I have ever seen at my LFS, well PetCo actually, I bought a pari of bamboo shrimp today. I've read they are filter feeders. Will they eat freefloating algea? What about the brown diatomic algea that has invested my tank recently. One of the shrimp is camping out on the filter spraybar so I guess they are eating something but I was hoping they will fight the brown algea.

I'm not 100%, but I do believe they'll eat green water. That's not saying they'll actually make a noticeable difference in it though. I'm highly doubtful they'll touch brown algae.

I wish I had a whole bunch of them when I had green water!
