Shrimp add very little to the bioload of the tank.

If you are setting up the tank, then you'll definitely have to feed the Amanos food. Mine go for flakes or whatever else they come across while they are on algae cleanup detail. I dropped a nice size piece of java moss covered wood in the tank they're in two days ago, and since there was a good amount of hair algae mixed in with the java moss, the amanos dove into it, now they all look green from eating so much hair algae.

I tried to feed my 2 Amanos a Algae Wafer made by Hikari. They picked at it but didnt seem to like it. I think they prefered the fish flakes more. go figure.

Yes, amanos tend to prefer meaty snacks. Mine love bloodworms and shrimp pellets.
