|  You can have one shrimp in a tank, if you want. If you're planning to breed them, I'd recommend at least 8 or 10. If you're wanting them for algae control, I'd say at least one per 5 gallons of water. |

| For algae control, I would suggest 1 to 2 gallons per shrimp. Shrimp contribute minimally to the bioload, and I mean minimally.

| Thank you both, algae control is 1 reason but not the sole reason. Minimal bio-load is a definite PLUS!! Now, I think I'll get a few different kinds & spread them out in all my tanks BUT my "asian tank" (because of the yo yo's). Most shrimp ok with a betta? BTW, I must thank the TPTB (powers that be) for opening this section! Good move! |
