| Mods to a 12 gallon Aquapod? In about a month, I'll be getting a Aquapod 12 (its going to be a reef)It has 4 chambers in the back; these chambers hold 4 gallons total (it really holds 16 gallons). This leaves it wide open to mods. When you buy it, it comes with bioballs, a sponge(foam block), caramic media, and a 160gph 35w pump (Alot of watts for a small pump!). So for i'm planning on :
Not using the bioballs, cramic, or the foam block.
I'll change the pump to a maxi jet 900 (235 gph)
Run some live rock in one of the chambers.
Use some carbon and phosban
Block off the bottom two intakes just to force water to go through the skimmer.
Cut off the bars blocking the fan outlets.
Install a computer fan some how. (summers a'coming)
I'll leave the lighting for another day. But when i do upgrade it, It will be to 2x32w or 2x40w pc lights. The "stock" lighting is 2x27w pc bulbs.
In closing, has anyone ever moded an Aquapod before?
thanks

| I read somewhere that the ballasts can support 28w bulbs. It really only makes a 2w difference.
Any ideas?

Personally, I don't think you would be able to cool a fish tank down with an air pump. See what other relpies you get from it

| I don't think cooling with an air pump will work...I guess I don't see any specific questions being asked before that one...

| Looks like a real possible project. Its quite easy to mod those biocubes/nanocube/aquapod tanks. I've never done it personally but watched others do it. I agree with the cooling, if you are serious you might consier looking at a nano chiller....assuming it gets really hot. The fan will work but only to a point.

| I have this tank with the stock lighting (yes I know I have been posting that I have the 24gal but my boyfriend just enlightened me the other day that we really got the smaller one) and I had to get a nano chiller for it. But I live in a very hot area and figured it would be easier to chill the tank then my whole house. I also kept the hood on.

| What you could do is use 2 small panes of glass or something and use aquarium sealent to kepp them in place.
My Aquapod is still in the mail. How do you like yours so far?
