umm...nobody is upset with you...

that said, if you can't afford a book yet then this is the best resource you have, but definitely get those books ASAP...might look into the library

i should add, even if they do not own the books you want, you might inquire about interlibrary loans (I.L.L.)...most public libraries recieve books through ILL free of charge

I like to keep my tank at about 8.2 personally. 8.4 i don't think would be terrible. What are your other water readings? Ammonia, Nitrates, etc?

How new is this tank? Adding fish without properly cycling the tank or into an immature setup can kill fish easily.

Your fish will brighten up after some time too and it also has to do with the diet of the fish. How long do they stay in the corner? I have two Percula clownfish and they usually isolate themselves in a back corner of the tank when its all dark. When the lights come on they start to swim around and get active until it gets dark again. 8.4 is pretty much the upper limit for SW. I usually keep mine about 8.2 to 8.3.

well i set up my tank with the live rock and got everything balanced before i got two damsel fish to help build up the bactiera we left the damsel fish in there for 3-4weeks before adding other fish i woke up this morning and check the ph and it had gone down to the 8.2-8.3 area.

is it possible the ph is trying to regulate its self and will soon become an almost constat ph?

the fish have there color back also i think im just a nervous beginner.

55gal
1 yellow tang

2 clownfish
