Default Google CHROME

Has anyone used this new browser, yet? Is it better than Firefox?

I haven't tried it myself. But, from what I hear, it:

No, I plan to (thanks for bringint it to my attention!) but I still LOVE Opera.

It has some nifty features, and it was the first to institute tabs and everything. Don't let Mozilla lie to you

Well, I'm currently using it (Chrome).....I'm not ready to say it's better than FF, but it certainly has a different "feel" to it, so far I'd say I prefer Firefox, but I'll keep goofing with it for a few more days.

I am using it now and I will and can say it's better than FF. I didn't ever like FF, and I like this just a little more than Opera (my fav)

So it's a thumbs up for me.

Firefox is still my favorite. Chrome is nice. I like the minimalist feel, and the placement of the tabs. But... I want a home button back.
I like the start page. It shows me thumbnails of recent pages that I can click on and jump to. Recent bookmarks are also shown.
The browser isn't compatible with all web pages yet, and there is a new vulnerability announced today:
From US Cert:
US-CERT is aware of a vulnerability that affects the Google Chrome web browser. This vulnerability is due to a default configuration that allows files to be downloaded without prompting the user. In addition, downloaded files can be opened with a single click, which could allow a user to inadvertently open a malicious file.

US-CERT encourages users to enable the "Ask where to save each file before downloading" option within the "Minor Tweaks" tab in the browser preferences. Although this does not fix the underlying vulnerability, selecting this option will warn the user before files are downloaded. Users should still exercise caution when visiting and downloading items from untrusted websites.
It also doesn't work well with Symantec Endpoint Protection. You need to add the following line to your shortcut in order to get it to work:
--no-sandbox
I like the browser though. It just needs to mature a little.

Oh, my biggest complaint is in how Chrome handles proxy servers. Chrome uses the Internet Explorer settings for your proxy server. To turn Proxy on/off is cumbersome. Firefox has plug-in tools which allow me to just press 1 icon to turn proxy on/off. As a laptop user moving from proxy/non proxy locations this is a needed feature.

Still I find myself flipping to it occasionally to see how it handles this page or that. I'm looking forward to what it can become.

Jonathan

Im in the minority, but i love my IE. The new beta version is perfect. Google has a great search engine, but they do keep tabs on all users of their products. Plus in the fine print of Chrome, anything you produce with it(ie blogs, documents, etc.) is the intellectual property of Google.

Only 1 year ago they have the search results for millions of users to the government.

They all do it. Google is more upfront about their practices. Don't think for a minute that anything you search for, read, download, or post isn't being kept by either your browser, ISP, or site provider.
The only search tool I'm aware of that makes a point of not caching on their own servers is Clusty (Clusty the clustering search engine). I've not found their search results to be as comprehensive though.

That new hidden option (Or whatever it is that hides everything) in the new IE will be pretty sweet.
