Default Facebook users ... application to save the oceans

If you're a Facebook user, you can add this application to help donate to saving the oceans: Sea Garden | Facebook

It works like Lil Green Patch (if you use that).

Is facebook like a more interactve myspace?

Facebook is a social utility that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them. People use Facebook to keep up with friends, upload an unlimited number of photos, share links and videos, and learn more about the people they meet.

Maybe I'm being over-cynical (is that even a word) but what exactly do the oceans need saved from? Terrorists? Commies? Sandstorms?

The ocean was here long before us humans, and will still be here long after we're all gone.

Facebook is to Myspace as a Adult Club is to a Teen Club.

(Not THAT kind of adult club.....just mature.)

LoneWolff the oceans need to be saved from the influences of humans...we do tons of irreperable (sp?) damage every year, pollution being one of the biggest I believe. I took an oceanography class last semester that was very eye opening to a lot of the processes (chemical and biological) that are adversely affected by things that we do...not even realizing the effects of our actions.

I understand that there are tons of pollutants, but as long as humans still exist, they will always "influence" their environment. Planet earth is constantly changing.

The only way to preserve the oceans as they exist now, you would have to be able to control the global environment for hundreds of thousands of years.

I fail to see how adding an application to a social networking website will have any impact whatsoever on reducing pollutants or stabilize constant atmospheric changes across the entire planet. Whatever minimal amount of money that may be donated to organizations that claim to help, will have zero impact.

Geologically speaking, the earth has undergone far more severe changes prior to human existence than it has during human existence.

I think it's great that more people are aware of the impact that we all make upon our environment. But I encourage everyone to think about phrases like 'Save the Earth'. The Earth does not need saving.
