I understand that there are tons of pollutants, but as long as humans still exist, they will always "influence" their environment. Planet earth is constantly changing.
The only way to preserve the oceans as they exist now, you would have to be able to control the global environment for hundreds of thousands of years.
I fail to see how adding an application to a social networking website will have any impact whatsoever on reducing pollutants or stabilize constant atmospheric changes across the entire planet. Whatever minimal amount of money that may be donated to organizations that claim to help, will have zero impact.
Geologically speaking, the earth has undergone far more severe changes prior to human existence than it has during human existence.
I think it's great that more people are aware of the impact that we all make upon our environment. But I encourage everyone to think about phrases like 'Save the Earth'. The Earth does not need saving.
