Wouldn't that freak you out if you were checking on the fish and a snake like that was staring through the tank at you. Reminds me of Jarrasic Park III where the raptor is behind the water tank thing and the woman thinks its dead.

I'm a fan of snakes, and think that they benefit the area they live in, but Copperheads are poisonous and they don't belong in your house. It doesn't matter how cute the rat (ick) is, it's not worth having you or your kids bit.

Were it just a garden snake then I'd say to just suck it up.

It seems like the bigger problem is how the snakes are getting in? They don't need much of a hole. I'd be on my hands and knees with a flashlight and a few cans of Great Stuff...

See thats what I would do before getting rid of the rat. Find out how they are getting in. The smell of the rat being in the house isnt going to go away for a while, at least for the snake. Plus they have gotten in before and will surely do it again.

I have two rats...and a mouse..that sight would give them a heart attack as well as me
I wonder how on earth a snake that big got into the house though? does she have a habit of not closing in the door?

I wonder if the snake was male or female. I would be very concerned if it was a pregnant female since they give birth to 2 to 10 babies. A snake can get in the same size hole as a mouse such as a plumbing opening they don't have to come through an open door.
