Default 2008 Picture of The Month Contest

Hi everyone, welcome to the 2008 Picture of the Month contest brought to you by your friendly neighborhood MFTers.

Please read through these rules/guidelines carefully and post any questions you might have...some have been edited from last year, please read through them all even if you read through them last year.

This is a list of topics for 2008: Unless the contest specifies only one type of water... freshwater, saltwater and brackish entries will be accepted.

JANUARY: Best in Show (full tank) Freshwater, Brackish, or Saltwater. Full tank shots!

FEBRUARY: Labyrinth Fish (Bettas & Gouramis)

MARCH: Catfish & Bottom Dwellers

APRIL: Livebearers

MAY: SW inverts (non-coral) & FW Inverts

JUNE: Planted Freshwater Tanks

JULY: Cichlids

AUGUST: Nano Fish (10 gallons or smaller - full tank shot)

SEPTEMBER: Favorite Fish Photo

OCTOBER: Fry pictures

NOVEMBER: Corals

DECEMBER: Breeding Pairs of Fish (must have both male and female in photo)

RULES FOR PHOTO SUBMISSIONS

NEW THIS YEAR! Thanks to our sponsors at AquariumGuys.com, the winner of each POTM contest will be awarded a $25.00 gift certificate at AquariumGuys.com - Freshwater and Saltwater Aquarium Supplies! And not only that - the winning photo will have a featured spot on Aquarium Guys website! It will be prominently featured with the photographer's forum user name (or real name) and of course, only with permission.

*All photos submitted must be within the topic range. If you are unsure if your photo matches the topic or not just send a note with the photo and the mods will take a look at it and decide what topic it best fits under.

*All photos must be the member's own work. You cannot submit a photo that is not your own. If any member is found to be doing this, the photo in question will be removed, and they will no longer be allowed to participate in the POTM.

*Digitally adjusted photos will be accepted unless otherwise stated in the month's topic, as long as the adjustments fall within acceptable ranges. (ie: cropping, color adjusting)

*Please do not add your copyright on the photo that you are submitting. The members vote for the picture they like best without knowing who the picture belongs to, to help ensure a fairer contest. We will add a copyright for the contest so as not to leave the photo open to anyone to take.

*All photos submitted become property of Myfishtank.Net. If you do not agree with this, then don't submit your photo.

*Please do not go around asking people vote for a particular photo. Again, this defeats the fairness of the contest.

* If you have entered photographs in a contest please do not post those photos elsewhere on the forum until after that contest is over. Photographers are supposed to be anonymous until winners are announced.

*All photos must be submitted by the 28th day of the previous month (or the date specified by the moderators) for submission into the next month's contest. When you send your photo, please be sure to include your MFT user name, the title of the picture, month, and topic that the photo is to be used for. This will help keep down any mistakes of adding a photo for the wrong month, or leaving one out. Please do not send a photo any more than two months ahead of the contest that you are submitting for. We don't want to lose any photos by keeping them too long. Email photos to MFTPOTM@gmail.com

*Please be sure to attach photos to the email in an image format (.jpg etc) do not just give us a link to photobucket or wherever you keep your photos.

*A member cannot submit more than two photos for a single contest.

*Members are encouraged to submit photos for as many months as they can, but we have decided to limit the times a member can win 1st prize to once a quarter. If you have already won in that quarter we will post any additional pictures that you submit with a note letting people know they can't vote for it.

*Photos will be posted in a 400x600 pixel size...so please be sure that any photos you send us are at least that size.

*In the event of any disputes or issues the moderators will decide the best way to handle it. They have the right to refuse any photo as they deem necessary.

A full tank shot of a tank setup. Then we vote on which is our favorite.

If you have sw, it could be of a full reef setup or FOWLR. If you have fw, it could be an awesome rock work setup for a cichlid tank, or a full, lush planted tank. Or - if you are particularly fond of all fake stuff (like me heh heh) then it could be a plastic setup you enter. Then we all vote on which is our particular favorite. Last year it was called "Tank Of The Year", I guess by "best in show" I meant that as a broad term...

December's POTM is Breeding pairs. Is this as simple as a Male/Female pairing in the picture, or should the fish have actually bred?
