| Dyed Fish If the boycotting of stores selling dyed fish stopped the trade in them would you support the boycott. 8)

| Re: Dyed Fish I'll support you shouldn't have to dye a fish to make it beatiful they already are.

| Re: Dyed Fish Every fish store I have ever been in has sold dyed fish at one time or another. Besides, the stores wouldn't sell them if people didn't buy them. If I were to boycott every store, I would have no where to get fish. I don't think it is right to dye the fish, but I also don't think it is right to ruin someone's life; because they bought the fish from their distributor, who bought the fish from the place that dyed the fish in the first place. A lot of the fish stores around here where I live are just small business owners living day to day like every one else. |

| Re: Dyed Fish A few years ago in the UK an aquarium magazine began a campaign where the store owners pledged not to keep dyed fish, for doing so they received a poster to display in the store, and were also included in a hall of fame in the magazine, loads of people replied, after all they were getting free advertisng, it became so popular that the magazine had to stop it, as they were filling up valuable space.
This works, maybe other countries could try something similar. 8)

| Re: Dyed Fish There is no way to boycott every store that sells dyed fish. I think it should be against the law to dye a fish. Like fishchick said most pet store owners are just trying to make it by. I think the best thing to do is try to get people to stop buying them and try to stop the stores from buying them.

| Re: Dyed Fish I somewhat agree with Fishchick's opinion. Most stores that I have been in, usually at some point sell dyed Chanda Randa. In one store, I inquired about them and an employee actually told me that dying them weakens them. For that reason, I would not buy them.
I think it is most effective to tell the store that you don't appreciate them selling "painted fish". You could tell them that your opinion of them has just gone done a couple notches...and that you will first shop other stores who don't sell the dyed fish...and you'll shop at stores instead that care about making a buck, but also care about the wildlife that they sell.
