| My Adventures in Baton Rouge I spent Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday with my sister in her apartment in Baton Rouge, LA. We had a blast! We left my house after lunch on Monday for the 2 1/2 hour drive. Singing all the way, we managed to make it through the construction traffic on the interstate highway. At some points we were at a complete stop.
We brought along two platies that I had raised from fry and promised to give her. We put them in her 10 gallon along with her 4 cherry barbs (also raised and given to her by me) and two cories (one bronze & one albino). She also has a betta in a 2 gallon hex called Rufus.
Her roomate is out of town, so I got her bed intead of having the sleep on the couch. My sister gets to take care of her two adorable and crazy cats, Blue and Kitty, while she is gone. I love them to pieces and we really bonded while I was there. I wanted to take them home with me!
We went to the lake right near her apartment to feed the ducks. The fish (bluegills I think), turtles, and sparrows also enjoyed the bread we gave out. I took pictures of the ducks, a squirrel, two egrets, and a green heron.
Then we went to Ninfas for a mexican dinner. I love their food. It is the best. I had beef fahitas and my sister had a combination plate with an enchilata, a taco, and a tamale.
Then we went to see a movie. We saw Memento. It was great! Tough plot to follow, but very interesting. We both loved it and agreed that anyone who liked fightclub would love this movie too. It's about a guy with no short-term memory that takes pictures and writes notes to help him remember things. There hasn't been much publicity for it. I heard about it on the internet. There were only half a dozen people in the theater if you included us.
That was it for Monday. I'll continue in a few minutes with Tuesday's adventures.

| Re: My Adventures in Baton Rouge Tuesday morning, Blue woke me up early. He's so bad. ;D
My sister had to go to work. She has a job on campus in the Costal Ecology Department. Basically they have a camera that they drag across the ocean floor and take pictures every few seconds. My sister scans them into the computer and puts them on disks.
While she was gone I watched an episode of MST3K on tape and used her iBook to get on the net. Kitty sat in my lap and chased the cursor.
She got off work an hour early and came home and we had leftovers from Ninfas for lunch. Then we both took a nap since we didn't get much sleep the night before. Blue decided to come sleep in bed with me.
We woke up to the sound of very loud thunder. It wasn't raining very hard but still spoiled our plans to go back out and feed the ducks again and take more pictures but with the long lense this time.
So instead we decided to go to Noah's petstore to look at the fish and other animals. After that we went to my sister's friend's house to play with her rats. They're were so cute. We let them climb all over the room and us while we talked.
After that we went to see Evolution. It was hilarious!
Then we walked across the parking lot to Barnes & Noble. That place is huge! I wish we had one where I live. I got a great aquarium magazine that included some stuff about aquascaping and ponds. Two things that I'm learning about right now.
Then we got dinner from a take-out chinese place. We had sesame chicken, green beans, and egg rolls. It was great! We were the only customers in the place while we waited for our food. The guy who took our order was really cute. He also started singing in chinese at one point. He had a beautiful voice. When we left with our order, my sister and I were giggling and fawning over him. ;D
We had trouble keeping the cats away from the food but afterwards we had a great time playing with them with the paper bag that our food came in. Blue is such a crack head! We were doubled over in laughter for the longest time. And he never got bored of it. Even after he tore the bag to shreads.
That's it for Tuesday. I'll have Wednesday up soon.

| Re: My Adventures in Baton Rouge Wednesday I slept in while my sister was at work. My mom arrived about 5 minutes after my sister. We all went to eat lunch before my mom took me home.
The restaurant we went to was called the Blue Fish Grill. There was a huge saltwater aquarium in the middle of the place so that you could watch the fish from any table in the place. When I say huge, I mean like public aquarium huge. I'd say it was about 8 feet tall, 12 feet wide, and about 15 to 20 feet long. There was a sunken boat inside, 5 sharks, and many other fish. All of the fish were caught of the shores of Louisiana and Florida. The place has been open since 1998. The fish are very friendly and came up to the glass to see us. When I got home, I identified most of the ones I saw. Here are links to some pictures:

| Re: My Adventures in Baton Rouge Wow, I remember a huge aquarium from a nice club that I went to too. It was like 20 ft. x 3 ft x 5. Lots of sharks and sea creatures. The club was called Sharks BTW. It was fun getting drunk, dancing, and seeing sharks. hehe |

| Re: My Adventures in Baton Rouge WOW! Sounds like you had a great time Cillana. Did you chicken out on the tattoo? I'm getting mine tommorrow evening! I can't wait. I have changed my mind on what I want though. At first I wanted a chinese symbol meaning dragon. But now (being the cowboy I am!) I have decided to get a cowboy hat with a rope going around it. The hat is kinda tipped and the rope is like a lasso with a small peice hanging down like the part you hold, except not all the way showing. I can't wait to get it. I don't know about the tongue ring though. It depends on how drunk I am! j/k I don't think that'll influence my decision! ;D

| Re: My Adventures in Baton Rouge Haha, you guys better rethink about getting a tatoo. It is so dang permanent. My sister had one a few years ago that looked "cool" but now it is so damn ugly. Learn from my mistake please. I have a tatoo of a fancy guppy on my bicep which at the time I thought was "cool". hehe :-* :-/ :-/ 8) ??? |
