as sensitive as fish are....babies are MUCH MUCH more sensitive. Temperature changes, not being able to eat (like Jawz said) changes in nitrate/ammonia/nitrite etc can hurt or kill them easily.

I suspect it was either water quality or lack of feeding. Like Froggy said changes in water can kill them easily. Much easier if you do several smaller water changes daily instead of larger ones. Also you might want to hatch bbs (baby brine shrimp) for feeding. Personally it is a better food for fish and allows them to grow faster. Or you can sometimes buy frozen bbs.

Good luck,

Daniel

Sorry to hear about your losses.

Are the fry in a tank by themselves? How strong is your tank current? Could be several factors when it comes to the die off of small fry. I agree with the other posters about feeding and water quality. Did you ever see the fry feed? How are the ones doing that you gave away?

Don't be too hard on yourself as this type of thing can happen to the best.

Welcome to the "Tank" and keep us posted.

Any other fish in the tank? Could be why or some of these other things above. Good Luck on your next brood.

well two days ago my molly had babies again they now have gravel, plants (real and plastic) and a bubbling sponge filter i counted only seven babies and was almost positive she was finished so i took her out, this is her second prenancy so shouldnt she have a bigger litter? she had 24 the first time so why arent there more than that this time?
