new to guppies and not sure

Hi;
I have had fish for some time, big fish. Well, I recently started a guppy tank just a small one. My mother-in-law got me started she has tons of guppies.

Anyway, she gave me three pregant females and three males. One female, who looks like she is going to pop any minute does not show signs of having babies. But what is bothering me is that the males are pestering her to death. They will not leave her alone.

What does this mean? My husband has been helping me watch them as he was raised knowing about guppies, and he said he has never heard of this before. My mother-in-law don't know what this really means as she is full of babies and not showing signs of having any.

So, if anyone out there can help that would be great.

Male guppies have one mission in life....MATE! If you don't have about 2 to 3 females for every male the males will bother them literally to death. I would give your mother in law back 2 of the males...or get a couple more females from her.

I have 3 females and a male and he manages to thoroughly annoy all three of the girls constantly.

As far as whether she is prego or about to drop babies...sometimes the males will leave them alone...sometimes they wont.

Thank you all. My husband and I have already been talking about getting some more so we will just get females.

When she gave them to me I wasn't expecting to get so many in the first place. But they are really beautiful and more colorful than any I have ever saw.
