Exclamation Pregnant Platy?

So about a month and a half ago I purchased a male BETA. He was lonely so I upgraded to a 10 gallon tank (suggested by fish store) and purchased 2 red platys to keep him company....Initially he was not impressed but it gave him some life. NOW I have a problem. The red platy I thought was a male is a female, and vice versa for the other one whom I thought was female and is male. Now my female have a large "growth" on her belly and its turning black...however I'm not sure if that FOR SURE means she is pregnant, although she is eating like a maniac....what do I do, how can I tell?If she is pregnant, I want to keep the babies alive but dont want a tank take-over of red platys...

PS I'll try to get a picture of her on here so you guys can give me your opinions...

If you have a male and a female, you most likely have a pregnant female The last pic does make her look like she's pregnant, although not very far along, from what I can see.

"congrates its a girl" lol platties spawn about every 70 days so it very well can be, if that is the case thats means they are happy where they are. once the frie hacth you got to remove the male out of the tank he will eat them up very fast so keep a close eye on her over the next few days how long has it been since you've notices the change on her belly?

Well I've only had them for a month, and I always remember her having a big belly (of course she had been in a tank at the LFS with like 50 other platys...) but within the past 2 days I'd say its been getting biggar and a tiny bit blacker. My BIGGEST fear of course would be the betta and the male platy. I have a BOWL I can keep them in (1G) but thats not very nice for them, and I live in a tiny suite so its hard to accomondate another tank...any suggestions? I've never done this before, but I do know my betta will eat them because they're carnivorous, and in the past he ate tetra babies that I didn't know I had until it was too late. What kinda of stuff would I have t buy to keep the babies happy (shurbery, hiding places, etc)? Will the mother try and eat them?

Whenever my live bearers have fry I just leave them in the community tank with everyone else. Yes alot of them get eaten but unless you have the space for them I think it is better this way. If you have plants or fake plants they give the babies a place to hide, so you might be able to have a few grow up without having to many to handle.
