guppy info for a newbie?

i'm fairly convinced that one of my females is pregnant (visible gravid spot, rounded abdomen) and i'm just wondering if anyone could give me some general tips/info.

what is the best temperature for the tank? i've read conflicting information.

can you predict, within a few days, when the fry will drop? what are the signs, if any?

do fry tend to hang around the top of the tank, or the bottom, or wherever there's a hiding place?

is there anything else i should know? i don't want to keep all the fry - a few would be nice, but i am not planning to isolate the female.

get some carpet plant for your fry to hide.
or else theyll get eaten the frys should come out in 2-3 days

what is "carpet plant"? i haven't seen anything that is suitable for fry to hide in.
