Aggresive platies?

Lately my platies have been extremely aggresive towards my 2 albino cories. Both of them have torn fins but the green cories seem to just be distressed (not physically beaten). Anyone know how to tone them done a little? Been treating the whole tank with melafix to prevent infection to the cories.

Wow! I am really disappointed with MFT here. Usually I get an answer right away but so far I haven't got any responses. Hopefully someone will step up and renew my faith in MFT by answering but if not......

I don't know why your platies suddenly have this agressive behaviour while they don't usually have it.
Have you fed them enough?
How's the temperature? Usually high temp will make them more active.

Personally I like having people take the time to answer me in forums, whether they do it sooner or later - patience is a virtue.

As for why you didn't get an answer, well, Platy's aren't aggressive - period. Therefore, people probably didn't know how to answer.

Have you seen this bullying? I would guess that's there's something else ailing your Cory's, and if the Platy's ARE picking at them, its because the Cory's are already sick.

Hows your water parameters? Is there salt in the tank?

I have seen them actually bite the cories and the cories are getting sick from the biting. COuld it be the pregnant mom is irritable?

Fish will sometimes pick on other fish if the other fish are already sick, but I have never seen an aggressive Platy, pregnant or otherwise.

Fish can also be irritable if the water parameters are off. I suggest you check the water parameters and start doing water changes.

All indicators point to something wrong with the Cory's, and/or something wrong with the tank overall. It isn't a case of an aggressive Platy doing the damage.

maybe try adding some hidding places for the cory's to get away like plants or driftwood, they not only are for the fish, but they also look good

hiding places are abundant. water changes every weekend. the cories seem to be healing
