| golden killies I was at petco the other day and saw somethin out of the ordinary, Three golden killifish. Do any of you know anything about killifish ( what they eat? How to breed them? etc.). I currently have them in a 5 gallon and i am feeding them dried brine shrimp.
Ill try and post some pics later on. |

| nice looking fish....not suitable for a community tank with smaller fish though. Mine ate three Rasboras that were not much smaller than it was. |

| No I dont think you even have a female, Females have 4-6 vertical black bars going down it side, starting just passed their fin under their bodies. And they have pinkish and green sparkle to them. Of course I could be wrong but I looked it up, and it said what I stated. In my opinion u have two males

| I think that looks like a female of golden wonder killie, wild caught golden killies have the stripes but the bred out strain common in the aquarium hobby has no stripes
o didnt see that there were more then one well males get like this

| I have a breeding pair of golden wonders.
#1-make sure you have a full hood they do jump,i found 1 of my original 6 dried up on the floor because of it jumping.
#2 -have some floating plants, hornwort is good, but be prepared to throw out some of this plant from time to time as it grows like mad and becomes annoying. There are other plants that would probably be more appealing to you.
#3-i had mine in a 20 gallon with cardinal tetra's, neons, bloodfins and rummy nose.I never had one come up missing, however that doesn't mean anything as experiences differ from person to person.
#4-i bred mine totally by accident, the only thing i did diferently other then a 25% wc every week was give them some live blackworms and live brine shrimp as i read killies like live food, and thier light went out on me so they had to go with natural and room light for about a week.I have no idea how the fry survived, but one day I went to do a water change and there they were.
Other than that I can't help.
