Red face Killifish- are they OK?

Hi I have some cardinal tetras, neon tetras and a harlequin rasbora in a ten gallon tank (see my thread "anything to go with tetras?" in the beginning freshwater section- PLEASE!) my question is- Are killifish good beginner fish? I like their colors. But- I hear they're strict insectivores. Is this true? Help is MUCH appreciated!

I don't know if you're still reading this, but I did the killifish thing for awhile <-- check out my avatar! They are very beautiful fish but can be hard to handle. They are huge jumpers and picky eaters. They aren't community fish at all and are hard to get your hands on unless you go to a local killifish association. Let me know if you have any questions about them.

Any advice on the care and feeding of them?
From what I understand they only live for a year....not a problem as I also hear that they aren't hard to breed.

I've been looking into maybe buying one of those packages of eggs so any advice on this would be helpful and no, I don't mind setting up a species tank if that's what is required.

You stopped short at saying they are finicky eaters, what do they eat?

Oh boy, if you are interested in getting into killis, you need to do a lot of reading. Different types will only eat different things, some will only eat live foods. I don't recommend buying eggs, it sounds tempting, but it's very hard if you don't know what you're doing. I suggest doing massive research into any type you'd like to buy, there are specialty sites dedicated to them. They are definitely beautiful fish, if not the most friendly. If you'd like some more info on specific questions, feel free to email me.

Hello, I think the best thing is to by eggs of killi because you cannot find the nice one in at a fish store.
I found a site to buy killi eggs :

Killifish product | KILLIPARK FARM

BUT need to be ship in summer because eggs will die if Temp is less than 10C !

Unless you really know what you're doing, purchasing the killi eggs is a waste of money. They aren't like livebearers that can eat crushed flake food, they need microscopic food, correct PH and water conditions. It's very difficult.
