| My American Flag Fish is a Biatch Yep, he's a regular pain in the arse. He chases around everything he knows he can catch. He's chewed the fins off of a couple of angels, rainbows, and various others. Any suggestions as to what I should do? Of course he's in a tank of tetras that are faster than him, but I'd like to try breeding this fool with a female I have... No, he will NOT get his own tank.

| Re: My American Flag Fish is a Biatch With Flagfish, the aggression is cut down if you can find a female.
I had a heavily planted tank with vallisneria but the valls overtook my tank and I had to ditch it in a small aquarium I had in my backyard.
While cleaning up the small aquarium, I found about 10 to 15 baby flagfishes approximately 1".
Seems like they breed fairly easy but I gave mine away because it does do a lot of damage to fish that are slow. |

Watch the paradise cause they are MEAN!!!!! I have 2 in my 27 gallon and the big male is super mean. Of course his breeding partner died about 6 months ago so I guess I would turn pretty mean too.
So I tried to get another female (opps got a male). And he chased the little guy around and harrassed him. They learn really quickly and the little guy stays away.
I bought some buffer danios and that seemed to help too. But the little guy caught one, then showed it too me. hehehehe! I thought it was so cute I couldn't get mad.
Oh and the bigger paradise sucked the eyeball right out of an albino cory. SOAB!
So my warning is just watch them.

| Re: My American Flag Fish is a Biatch Lol at the danio thing ryingsmiley*. i have 2 males and 3 females and they live RATHER peaceably in the tank. But one day, my dominant male decided it would be fun to kill one danio and pick the eyes out of another. But I still love my paradise fish. They each have there own personalitys. Hunter is a very brightly colored one and he is shy, he is the backbone to most of my breeding projectsand is probably my favorite fish in the world. On the other hand sparkles, hunters wife in the first breeding project, is ready to push just about every fish out of the way at feeding time. They are very smart, and I just taught them to jump into the air and grab food from my fingers.....okAY i I think Ive babbled enough... ley* |
