Default Fp. sjoestedti(and eggs)

Sorry about the picture quality-trust me the fish in life are far more beautiful especially while courting or spawning. I've only had this pair for a week or two and they have already laid eggs. If the female was a bottomless pit i'm sure they would be going at it 24-7...propagation and food is all that is on the males lttle mind I really wish I could get a picture of his fighting pose as it is absolutely spectacular! He has a "ruff" under his throat which he lowers and it looks like his whole throat is dropping out. The only time I saw this was when the now flat female was saying to the male "no more". Only poblem for me is that all the eggs(I suspect around 20-30) ended up under the sand and I have only found 4. I guess I will leave the rest where they are and hope for the best.

I have to agree these one cool looking fishes!

Congrats on the spawn and good luck

Do you mind showing picture of the full tank setup and the specification?

I am considering to move my only 2 clown killies to breed them in their own 15gallon tank instead of leaving them in the current 38gallon. (I suspect I have 1male, 1female since one is alot larger than the other given they came from the same badge from previous owner).

Its nothing to look at. But the ideal spawning tank(mine is not ideal) would be one with NO SUBSTRATE(besides perhaps a bowl of peat) and either a thicket of java moss like mine or a yarn spawning mop. 10 gallon

They are in moderately hard water with ph of about 7.5 ideally it would be soft water. Your clown killies like acidic conditions and should do well in a 15 gallon planted tank. Check out the killitalk mailing list and killies.com if you haven't already.

I've checked out killies.com (its actually my local -Singapore site) But I am not able to register there because they have special email account requirement and I haven't got one.

I've got a 15 gallon, with a HOB filter ( I don't have an airpump or sponge filter), and lots of hornwort (40% covered) in that tank, no substrate.
I'm thinking of adding java moss in there.
I haven't seen a spawning mop in my LFS yet, can you DIY one?

Yep. There's a good tutorial on that site.
