Post Some editing needs I've noticed

Hey this is a great website, keep up the good work!
I've noticed the following that I believe are errors:
  • On the Clown loach profile it says they grow to 6". Several books I have say they grow to 12" one says 14" and another 16". I'd go with the 12" personally.
  • On the Blue Gourami profile there is a picture of a Dwarf Gourami. I've seen them sold as "Electric Blue" or "Powder Blue" Dwarf Gouramis. Here's a picture I found of what is being sold as a "blue gourami" in my area
  • On the list of message boards page there is a white folder or yellow folder to denote whether there have been posts since the last time you have gone to that folder, yet the key at the bottom shows folders with either a blue or grey dot on them

Thanks for listening! This website must take up a huge amount of your time!

I'd say just inform everyone that there is going to be the change by anouncing it on the welcome/home page. There are probably a lot of "dead wood" members anyway. I guess you could have anyone that wants their previous status restored email you. Sounds like its going to be a lot of work any way you cut it. You might redefine "charter fish" or give a new title to those who go through the change. If they are active members, their post numbers will shoot up quickly enough. As for all the information, in my opinion most people would only read the most recent couple of pages of topics anyway, and similar questions to those deleted would soon arrise.
I would like to see a way for members to get credit for number of fish or equipment profiles they submit.
Also, you aught to make a button to "click to donate" via paypal. I'd gladly pay for the great info on this site. This should only be on a voluntary basis however, not mandatory.

Post Re: Some editing needs I've noticed

thanks for the input. there are a bunch of "dead" members. my main concern was keeping all the member status cause you guys worked so hard to get them (# of posts, etc etc). i wasn't too worried about the threads cause i'm sure those will build up eventually anyways.

the phpbb converter doesn't work cause i think i must've done too many modifications to this board that it's causing an error somehow somewhere.

i know vbulletin has a yabb converter but i'm afraid i might run into the same problem and that would suck cause in order to test the yabb converter, u need to purchase vbulletin.

i heard some good things about xmbforum but they're currently working on a new version so i cant' test out their board (www.xmbforum.com).

so what does everyone else think? do you guys mind if we start over but i'll just manually give you back the # of posts and titles?

thanks for the suggestions! *

Post Re: Some editing needs I've noticed

haha cloth. i know u love phpbb. but unfortunately it won't convert all my stuff over.

redefine charterfish? if i did go to a new board, only those with the title charterfish now would be able to keep that title since they were the ones that were with me in when this first started out - remember those wild and crazy days where then was like only one post a day? haha. there are a few deadbeat charterfishes that don't come around anymore...but that should sweeten it for those who do since there won't be as many members with that title, right? haha.

yes..in the end is it my site..my board...but you guys are what makes it what it is was..what it is now..and what it'll be in the future so that's why i like to get an idea of what you like and don't like.

vyache, good idea with letting members post. the system i have setup (only on the profiles right now) is setup so that in the future, i can let other people post profiles and it'll keep count. hehe. that would be pretty cool.

keep them suggestions coming if you have any.  miley*

Heh Heh. Cloth, truth is I'm jelous! I want to be a charter fish or have some kind of regal title, but I only recently discovered this sight... Senior Charterfish for the originals and Junior Charterfish for those who go through this bulitain board change? Ok, Ok, I'm dreaming. I would however like there to be some way to get a title for submitting profiles and articles.

How many active members do you estimate that you have Arcab?

LOL well this charter fish (yes Johnny I've been here from the very beginning) would be a little POd at losing that status. It's got nothing to do with # of posts, but just that us "charters" were here from day one basically.

Vyache has some valid points. I happen to like all the extras that Johnny does here, like the links on the left side, to products, toptanks, etc. I would hate to lose them.

that being said....I will ask mu puter genius buddy about a good BB format....what I need to know is what we are at now? I know...I could foind that out.....but I wouldn't know what I"m looking at

Just drop me a line if you need input on this and I will go pick a friend's brain~!
