I've got guppies in cold water, and they do fine and breed. They are all the feeder guppy kind though, the fancies are less hardy and really need warmer waters. Where are you? Whether they would die over the winter might depend on where you are.

White cloud mountain minnows are good coldwater fish, they're kind of like coldwater zebra danios.

A feeder guppy is one of the ones that doesn't have an insanely long tail, and is usually sold as a "feeder guppy" for much cheaper... 5-12 for $1 usually, depending on where you go. They also stay a little smaller.

What's the minimum temperature it gets to at night in the winter in your house?

Are you serious it gets to 10 Celcius in your house in the winter??? Or, are you planning on having these fish outside? Is there a reason you don't want to have a heated tank, if it's going to be inside?
